I tried this one night at a restaurant and fell in love with everything about this Riesling. Very smooth, with a wonderful bouquet. A very soft flavor, with a little sweetness. I just LOVE this wine.

While on a business trip in Minnesota many years ago, the waiter suggested this riesling with dinner. I "discovered" it long before it became popular and a staple in stores. Years later it remains my FAVORITE everyday wine, and the pricetag is a plus!
Easy on the Palate

I fell in love with this Riesling when I lived in Seattle. It pairs well with every food I've tried... including s'mores at a campfire! I highly recommend this as an inexpensive and reliable everyday wine.

I love this riesling. It's wonderful to cook with tomatoes and artichokes and capers to create a sauce over fish or chicken. It's a nice wine for the price for a quick meal any night.
Awesome

This is one of my favorites. It was the first Johannisberg Reislings I tried and I still go back to it. It goes excellent with my husband's homemade weiner schnitzel, spatzle, and red cabbage.

Light and sweet. Crisp. Apple aromas. Peach and Apricot flavors. Good everyday wine. Would serve with company also.

Light and fruity, this Riesling goes very well with fish, salads, mild cheeses, and fresh fruit. Highly recommended as a staple for your wine rack.
Flavorful, good taste, not too sweet

This is a wonderful Riesling for under $10. Flavors are present but not overpowering, and the wine isn't too sweet. Would certainly drink it again, with or without a full meal.

The standard

A great standard Riesling. A little sweet and a little heavy, but works well as a before dinner wine.
For not being German...

This riesling is very good for not being German, but that might be the one same thing that some people might hold against this wine: not being German. Riesling is my favorite grape/wine, especially German ones, but this one took me by surprise. I just had a bottle of this with my wife for the first time with some spicy shrimp appetizers and creamy parmesan shrimp pasta at Ruby Tuesday and to me it went very well with the food. The wine is extremely easy to drink, and it has a very pleasant aftertaste/vapor/little heat that goes out through your nose. I also felt like a very faint spicyness ("kick") at the end. I gave it 4 stars because it's not from Germany, but in the end, it's not the wine's fault, it's just bad geography luck, so I could give it 5 stars. I was hesitant to try it at first because I have read several negative reviews about this wine on the net. Boy am I glad I didn't follow the advice of those negative reviews! Do yourself a favor and try this!
great price; $10 at sams; low acid; slightly sweet, good appertif

This wine has a full flavor, with the right amount of sweetness.
Just OK...

It has the right sweetness, but the finish isn't pleasant. Perhaps it was just the vintage I tasted, but I can't help comparing it to Columbia Winery's Cellar Master's Riesling, which I give 5 stars.

This American style riesling is fairly good, with nice earthy tones in a fairly dry rendition.
California?

If the Riesling isn't coming from Germany, I'd definitely choose a Washington State one over a California one! Johannisbergs are mere average, if that!
The worst

by Olson13599915
I love riesling wines and in a moment of weakness I bought this to try. This was the worst Reisling that I have ever tasted. After one glass I dumped the rest into the sink. I tried it because I am running out of the 1998 QbP Burklin-Wolf, a VDP riesling from the Pfalz area of Germany. I will continue to search.

Riesling

The Riesling grape may scare away some wine novices. In Germany, where the grape reaches its finest expression, labels hew to a rigid, abstruse set of classifications, leaving newcomers with little idea what they may be looking at. Furthermore, many wine drinkers' early experiences with sweet wines from Germany (think Blue Nun), have not been especially rewarding. We say that it's your loss if you continue to fear the...
