My wife and I love this stuff! We just had a bottle of the 2000 vintage and it is drinking very well. I bought two more bottles - the last two in the store. 2000 vintage rated 88 by Wine Spectator.
The first bottle of this I bought I got for $9. Wish I would have picked up a case of it!
Update: opened another bottle tonight and still awesome! 2000 vintage may be peaking, so it may be a bit late to buy a case. Drinking well right now though!
2000 is Excellent
Guigal is amazing. Whether they're doing Chateauneuf or a Cotes-du-Rhone, they show the same great care and expertise. This is a tremendous bargain for ten dollars. I served this to guests at the same time as a much higher-priced Gigondas, and they all preferred this. So did I. My next purchase is a case of this delicious little beauty.
One of the best CDR I've ever tasted.
Nice fruit but also earthy, silky
smooth with long finish. Can't
shake a stick at the price
2006 A Great CdR for the Price
The 2006 is much better than the 2005 Guigal remains a great value wine. Not to spicy upfront, just pure delicious with lots for red berry notes, and gets better on day 2. Excellent buy (note I save 4 and 5 star ratings for more outstanding and complex wines)
Just what a CDR should be. Dark fruit and white pepper. Great value.
fruity, complex, not too dry, very nice
I'm on my 6th or so bottle and it's starting to get a little less interesting, but everyone I've served it to has loved it, and I'll buy it again. It's my "house wine" and you can't beat it for $12.
There is a lot of character here for the price. Would like to go 3.5 stars. Not as good as Jaboulet Parralel 45, though.
A light bodied, thin, mildly fruity, french red wine. To sum it up, a French red table wine. Will look elsewhere next time I'm in the mood for a CDR.
The entire Rhone Valley is frequently referred to as the Cotes du Rhone, but this is also the name of the generic appellation that covers more than 100 communes in the region north of Avignon. The primary varieties cultivated here are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Carignan. Wines simply labeled Cotes du Rhone may rank at the bottom of the hierarchy...
