I always have a bottle or two of this wine to enjoy with cuban food. Paella and Marques go very well!Just opened up a bottle (2000) and decanted for 1 hour, came back and swirled the glass, smooth silky and chocalaty very nice and paired it up with three cheeses.Very enjoyable.Cheers!

Not too strong to be paired with lighter Mediterranean fare yet bold enough to hold up to roasted garlic and tomato sauce...fruity, medium bodied, finishing respectably ripe.

The 2002 is available but I will keep those in my celler for next year. The 2001 is ready to drink now. Out of the bottle it has fruity aroma and lasting finish.

WOW!!! First time I had this little beauty I was in Mexico City at Castillo de Torres, one of the BEST Spanish restaurants I have ever experienced. This wine offers everything you would expect from a Rioja Red. Smooth, yet offers complex flavors that go wonderfully with most Spansh, Cuban and Italian foods. If you like easy drinking Reds this should be within your reach for any occasions as it is very reasonable for under $20

We tasted the 2001 and found it to be drinking perfectly now - it is a balanced almost "soft" Rioja that is one of the better Riojas I have had recently - good value.

It's been a couple of years since I last had de Riscal. I was in my "big Cab" phase and found this an interesting and affordable alternative. As I recall, and I drank it regularly, there was consistency regardless of vintage, and it never failed to please, though at times it can be rough around the edges.
