Bright ruby. Expressive aromas of black raspberry, cassis, violet, olive and basil. Penetrating berry flavors nicely firmed by brisk acidity. Finishes a bit tough, with a port-like suggestion of damp earth. But this has excellent fruit concentration and length, and the backbone to develop in bottle.
