($22; for 500 ml.; includes 10% Pedro Ximenez) Deep orange. Highly aromatic nose combines orange zest, lavender, honey, date, marzipan, clove and maple syrup; suggestion of dried grapes. Then thick, sweet and velvety, with lush but lively flavors of apricot, orange zest, clove and maple syrup. As plump as this is, it avoids heaviness thanks to its sound acidity. The finish seemed to grow longer as this intriguing wine opened in the glass. This is 16% alcohol; the fermentation was stopped with neutral grape spirits, leaving about 4% residual sugar. .
