Found the 2001 vintage unexpectedly on sale at Southern Season's in Chapel Hill, NC for $19.99 in 2005. Bought three bottles; plan to open one each year. Just opened one in August 2006. Has gotten even better with age!!! I cannot wait for 2007!

From the second you uncork the bottle, you know you're in for a treat! This Merlot is full-bodied with silky smooth tannins--my favorite thus far. I plan to keep plenty on hand for special moments and special friends!

This is another excellent winery that makes fully Organic wines, that doesn't advertise that they're organic. Some people who get reactions to non organic wines can drink organic wines, like my wife. Unfortunately most wine staff and web sites, including this one, don't identify wines as organic unless they are advertised as such, like Frey, which is quite terrible.

This 2004 Merlot opened very tight with little to no nose to speak of. After an hour in the decanter, it was slightly tart, almost devoid of fruit with a bit of a "chewy" tannic finish. It appears to be designed to be strictly served with heavy, robust meat and cheese dishes. Too austere for my liking as an aperitif, some will like it, others may also find it too acerbic. Recommend Chappelett's similarly priced Merlot for a more versatile wine.
