($42) Bright red-ruby. Wild, meaty aromas of black raspberry, smoke, iron and pepper. Juicy and intensely flavored, with compelling sweetness; not especially dense but lovely vinosity gives clarity to the flavors of dark berries, violet, leather and meat. I like this wine Old World texture and weight, not to mention its accurate varietal character. Finishes dense, sappy and long. (Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL)
