About Viader Vineyards & Winery

Since she released her first vintage in 1989, Delia Viader's flagship Proprietary blend has been an elegant, juicy, harmonious midweight whose sizable Cabernet Franc component contributes blackberry and licorice elements and a pronounced violet character to the core of Cabernet Sauvignon. According to Viader, her success comes from the terroir—a sunny spot at the foot of Howell Mountain—but we know it helps to have a bright mind calling the shots too.

90 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - May/June 2003

($80; a blend of 63% cabernet sauvignon and 37% cabernet franc) Bright ruby-red. Aromatic nose combines currant, black raspberry, violet, dark chocolate and sexy oak tones. Soft and appealing, with moderate density and firm acidity. Finishes with dusty, light tannins and very good length and grip. Slightly disjointed today, in need of a year or so to absorb its acidity.

Understand this wine
by rauh10837854
This wine get 5 stars from me because of its complexity and flavor. The nose of this wine suggests everything that you want from cabernet based blend. The flavor is deep with black cherry, earth and tabacco and the finish is long and memorable. This is not a cookie cutter cabernet, which is why I feel it is well worth its price ($90.00+). This wine define the reason to blend cabernets and creates a diveristy that is hard to replicate. I give this blend a 98 rating and wish Steven Tanzer would reconsider his 90 rating.
Very Nice
by Armstrong10498939
This was a very nice bottle of wine. If it had been around $40 and not $85, I would have given it 5 stars. However, it isn't as good as some of the other vineyards in that price range (Joseph Phelps for one). However, don't shy is a good bottle of wine.
Rich and Sexy
by gamay10579759
The 2000 is rich and sexy but not as elegant as the '99 which was outstanding. Delia continues to produce one of the best and most underrated cabs from California.

From Mount St. Helena to the city of Napa, the valley is defined by two north-south ridgelines of the Coast Range Mountains.
