Expert Reviews
Saturated ruby-red. Black raspberry, cherry, currant, flowers and vanillin oak on the sappy nose. Lush, fat and deep; rather round and forward for this bottling. Finishes with big, sweet tannins and mouthcoating fruit of outstanding persistence. Very impressive, but not a wine I'd bury in the cellar. These two 2001 Barbarescos have the buffering extract to support their near-15% alcohol without coming off as topheavy.
