About Moet et Chandon

Before you heard about it in Kanye West’s songs, Moet et Chandon was the drink of French kings, Russian tzars and Napoleon I himself. For as long as it’s been around—since 1743 to be exact—Moet has been the drink of the rich and famous.

($150) Green-tinted gold. Tightly wound lime and pink grapefruit aromas open slowly to reveal a gently smoky mineral and floral character, with a light kiss of green cardamom adding interest. Very fresh on the palate, with youthful citrus and green apple flavors giving way to slightly riper blood orange and pear. Finishes firm and dry, with serious grip. This only hints at its potential, and I'd advise anyone drinking it for what's in the bottle rather than on the label to stash it away for at least another five years, minimum.

Light color. Big spicy very citrus nose - lime pink grapefruit blood orange quince. Huge palate - intense pink grapefruit lime mineral blood orange ginger strawberry & pear skin. Very full dry & long intense citrus-fruit lime-spice flavor that finishes with surprisingly intense grapefruit/ginger. Wonderful & Amazing but unready. Really needs 3+ years. 94 points

Shared with four friends , starting with display in the flute the bubbles were like a fireworks display. The citrus, green apple and the freshness on the palate. This was really spectacular !!! Champagne lovers should seek this out.

I would never spend this much for a bottle of anything... but we received one as a special gift, held it for New Year's eve and it was incredible. Starts with citrus... lemon-lime... crisp & clean and finishes with a buttery coating on the palette like a fine chardonnay. A wonderful experience.

Enjoyed with friends on New Year's Eve. Liked it - didn't love it, but I'm not a champagne guy. Thanks Eric

About Champagne

Champagne-making is the highly refined art of blending base wines into a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. These component wines come from different grape varieties (the white grape Chardonnay and the red varieties Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) and from different villages and vineyards. And because only four or five harvests per decade...
