($55) Bright ruby-red. Spicy aromas of cassis, bitter cherry, dark chocolate and tobacco. Fairly large-scaled but tight, with low-toned dark cherry and tobacco flavors framed by firm acidity. Slightly roasted aspect. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent. I prefer the oak component in this '98 to the winery two '99 releases.
