About Cos d'Estournel
Across the street from Medoc giant Lafite-Rothschild, Chateau Cos d'Estournel stands up well to its famous neighbor. The winery dates back to 1810, when Louis Gaspard d'Estournel christened the site and began producing wine.
2000 Cos d'Estournel Saint Estephe (in double magnum) (Pre-Arrival)
Producer: Cos d'Estournel
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Bordeaux Blend
Origin: France
Region: Bordeaux
Appellation: Saint Estephe
90 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2003
($90-$110) Full ruby-red. Cassis, minerals, cedar and a floral note on the nose, along with an herbal currant leaf component. Juicy and tight; hints at the power of the vintage but misses out on the sweetness and pliancy of the best examples. Offers a reasonably seamless texture but the firmly tannic finish seems a bit herbaceous following the 2001.
