($45) Good saturated ruby-red. Smoky, roasted aromas of cassis and black cherry; shows a bit more precision today than the merlot. Then denser and sweeter but also higher-pitched, with flavors of currant, cherry, tobacco and smoke, plus a whiff of loam (but the merlot is more earthy). Solid acidity contributes to the impression of balance. Firmly structured cabernet.
