Medium-deep red. Exotic American oak tones of bourbon, coconut and cocoa butter dominate the nose. Then fat, lush, suave and dry, with no excess weight. Impressive more for its mid-palate texture than its fruit. Most complex today on the back end, which features broad, fine tannins and notes of cherry, candied raspberry, milk chocolate, espresso and bourbon. A very good vintage for this bottling.

2001 Silver Oak is not just any red wine. It is one of the finest red wines I have ever felt. After the intial pour and teasing of the nose for several minutes, your buds will finally explore a whole new taste. I have tried many wines, but have never enjoyed a red wine more than silver oak. I highly recommend it.

Nice nose, but not complex (very thin). No real finish.

3/06 Moderately strong nose of sappy red fruit, cassis, clove and anise, well balanced, easy drinking with some tannins on the backend, unlikely to improve much with age and ultimately disappointing for its lack of complexity, especially at this price point
