Dense, extracted, and big framed: an immense wine.
by Walter A. Kotrba, CWE
Consistent with the auction barrel sample, this wine is full of black currant fruit and a gravel and pepper undercarriage, anise and licorice notes appear in the dark fruit; there is good acid and large tannins, but they are soft and needed to balance the heavily extracted fruit; long finish of black plums and black pepper.11/02. Loads of ripe black plums with an identifiable mineral undercurrent, powerful tannins in perfect balance against smooth dark fruits and pepper in the familiar Plumpjack Cabernet style from the Oakville Bench. 02/01 at Premiere Napa Valley, St Helena.
