Medium-dark ruby. Reticent nose is likeable but austere, with typical sangiovese aromas of licorice, tobacco and violet. This compact wine has some flesh but is a little less fruity and forthcoming than more modern-styled examples. Finishes appropriately dry, with slightly edgy tannins and decent length.
