($110) Bright, deep ruby-red. Deep aromas of cassis, pepper, exotic spices and chocolatey oak. Dense and sappy, with more obviously ripe fruit to buffer the wine's currently dominant spicy oak character. Still rather backward and in need of patience. Finishes long and oaky, with dusty tannins and very good verve. (New Castle Imports, Myrtle Beach, SC)
