($59; just the second vintage of this wine, from 55% old-vines garnacha, 30% cariñena and 15% cabernet sauvignon) Full, bright ruby. Slightly high-toned aromas of dark berry liqueur and maple syrup. Offers almost confectionery sweetness (crystallized blackcurrant) in the middle palate, but comes across as a bit muscular and tight. Firm acids and slightly hard-edged tannins give this very strong, persistent wine a rather unrefined character. This may ultimately merit an outstanding rating, but needs a good four or five years to harmonize.
