($98) Yellow-gold with a frothy mousse. Fresh Meyer lemon, sweet butter, smoky minerals and jasmine on the powerfully scented nose. Bright and precise but also deep, offering sweet orange, licorice and chamomile flavors along with a subtle undercurrent of baking spices. Impressively smooth in texture, with good sappy cling on the long, smoky finish. No way I'd have guessed that this came from the usually forgettable 2001 vintage.
