This huge and historically significant estate is a major buyer of grapes for their Pouilly-Fumé and Comte Lafond Sancerre. The style here is bright and focused but not austere, more suggestive of apples and pears than grapefruits. The barrel-fermented luxury bottling Baron de L is toasty, rich, exotic and ageworthy. We are also fond of the Sancerre La Poussie, from a unique amphitheater in Bue that showcases a varietal of geographical features.
