About Havens Wine Cellars

Prior to selling his winery, Michael Havens made Merlot in a distinctly Bordeaux style, with a restrained sweetness and notes of lead pencil, minerals, game and tobacco leaf. Expert Reviews

87-88 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - May/June 2003

(tasted from tank just prior to bottling) Precise aromas of apple, pear and mint. Juicy and perfumed, with good flavor development but only moderate complexity. A bit suppler than the '01 ("a ripe year for this wine," notes winemaker Jeff Keene), but still a rather austere style. Finishes with decent length.
