About Domaine Weinbach
Domaine Weinbach was established in 1610 by the Capuchin monks who also gave their name to the domaine's most prized vineyard, Clos des Capucins. The estate itself got the name Weinbach--which literally translates to "wine brook"--from a little stream that trickles through the property.
2002 Domaine Weinbach Gewurztraminer Altenbourg Cuvee Laurence
Producer: Domaine Weinbach
Style: White Wine
Grape Type: Gewurztraminer
Origin: France
Region: Alsace
92(+?) Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2003
($60) Big, spicy, youthfully unevolved nose dominated by yellow fruits. Dense but very bright, with highly complex, rot-ennobled flavors of nectarine, soft citrus fruits and poppy seed, along with an intriguing smoky aspect. Like most of these 2002 gewurztraminers, this is much higher in acidity than the corresponding 2001. Finishes very long and spicy.
