About Peter Michael Winery
Appropriately enough, Sir Peter Michael, an Englishman who made his name in electronics, established his vineyard in Sonoma County's Knights Valley. From the moment he purchased the property in 1982, Sir Michael has insisted upon an Old-World approach to New World wine. Terroir is paramount here, along with elegance in favor of overstatement.

($65) Subdued, cool aromas of peach, orange rind and crushed stone. Dense, thick, chewy and very ripe, with a strong minerality that's not currently showing in the Mon Plaisir. Very expansive chardonnay with deep spice and mineral flavors and an exotic citrus oil component. Impressively broad and persistent on the back end.
