2002 Jermann Chardonnay Dreams

For many people in Italy, Silvio Jermann is the country's most notable and best white wine producer. He was undoubtedly at the vanguard of the move toward high quality (and often expensive) wines from Friuli.  Certainly very few estates offer three whites at the level of Vintage Tunina (mainly Chardonnay and Sauvignon blended with local grapes), Capo Martino (mainly Tocai and Picolit) and Dreams, a world-class barrel-fermented Chardonnay. The best buy here, though, is Vinnae, a delightful, deceptively light and refreshing Ribolla-based white.
