(this 5.8-acre parcel of 100-year-old vines literally surrounds, and is owned by, the public library in St. Helena) Medium ruby. Slightly medicinal aromas of raw black cherry and licorice. Creamy on entry, then high-pitched and a bit tart, with rather strong acidity currently clashing with the wine's firm tannins. Not an easy style of wine - and especially difficult to taste following the Hayne zinfandel.
