($153; from low-yielding 81-year-old vines cropped at less than a ton an acre in 2003) Saturated ruby-red. Pure, perfumed aromas of blackberry, cassis and violet. Wonderfully sweet and intense, with splendid concentration of fruit for the vintage. Structured and tightly wound, but with a compellingly sappy quality and outstanding length. This displayed growing pliancy and sweetness as it opened in the glass. A great 2002.
