Expert Reviews

94 Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2003

($200; for 375 ml.; this is a joint venture between Chateau Ste. Michel and the Mosel's Ernst Loosen) Deep gold. Explosive dried apricot aroma, complicated by notes of dates, white raisin, honey and pungent spices. Pours like a solid: viscous and hugely rich, with flavors of dried apricot, pear and game, plus a light saline component. Harmonious acids keep this remarkably thick and concentrated dessert wine fresh. Extremely long finish saturates the palate with fresh and dried apricot. Also tasted: 2001 Merlot Indian Wells Vineyard Columbia Valley*.
