89-92 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - January/February 2004
(a botrytis cuvee still in barrels on its original lees; from grapes picked with 20% potential alcohol; now in the 18. 5% range, with 12 grams of residual sugar) Medium yellow. Exotic, Sauternes-like aromas of tangerine, candied orange peel, game and clove. At once powerful and penetrating, with idiosyncratic flavors of dried fruits, meat, earth and spicy oak. Finishes fairly dry, with a rancio-like walnut aspect. Cordier also made this wine in 2000, but with a bit less alcohol and sugar.
