About Chateau Climens
From the highest point in Barsac, Chateau Climens looks out upon the entire appellation. It's sloping vineyards, planted exclusively to Semillon, provide excellent drainage for the vines, and a favorable microclimate, alternating between morning mist and daytime sun, allows for the early development of noble rot.
2003 Chateau Climens Barsac (half bottle) (Pre-Arrival)

Style: Sweet Wine
Grape Type: Semillon
Origin: France
Region: Bordeaux
Appellation: Sauternes and Barsac
92(+?) Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 2006
($73-$100) Medium yellow. Reticent, spicy nose opens slowly to reveal apricot, orange and caramel. Fat, silky and sweet, with the sheer concentration to support its substantial alcohol. Quite unctuous for Climens, with an almost confectionery quality to the fruit. Comes across as less firm than usual for a young Climens, but then today the wine's structure is buried beneath its opulence and baby fat.
