($32) Cherry and purple plum in the nose. Rich honey-, malt- and lime-drenched cherry and plum on the palate. Satisfyingly long. Selbach thought about blending this with the Spatlese, then decided it deserved separate bottling. Today the Spatlese is marginally more expressive, but Selbach thinks this has the ultimate edge, and it picked up depth and clarity overnight in the recorked bottle. Potential 2 stars.

This Auslese is wonderful. I can't believe the quality you get for the price. Selbach-Oster is always reasonably priced, too. Great wine.
