Bright, full yellow. Honey, pineapple and a whiff of menthol on the nose. Then impressively powerful in the mouth but with lovely acidity leavening its concentrated fruit. Very juicy and fine for Suduiraut, and not at all outsized or overly sweet. Comes across as very young, and finishes with noteworthy spine. Quite suave.

Incredibly rich and intense with enough acidity to balance the sweetness. Went incredibly well with a veal dish I had at a Calvert Woodley wine dinner.

It was just about perfect. Honey and spice and lemon rind. I served this with coconut and raspberry sorbet with cookies, but I would not have so sweet a desert next time. I've saved 2 more bottles of 2001 for future years and bought some 2003s, too. I expect the 2003 to be quite similar. Get the 2003 while they last. They will be all gone soon. I actually give the Suduirant 4-1/2 stars because I tasted a '95 d'Yquem which I like fractionally better, but oh the price difference.
