($70) Medium red. Ripe, concentrated but somewhat faint aromas of red cherry, raspberry, milk chocolate, leather and flowers; leather and forest floor nuances emerged with aeration. Juicy and atypically forward for this cru, with good mid-palate volume. The wine's soft tannins make it quite approachable. The vines in this vineyard, a particularly well-sheltered site with a very hot microclimate, usually give this estate's firmest wines, but not so in '03.
