2003 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Saint-Joseph

Bright ruby-red. Spicy black fruits, licorice and an almost tarry ripeness on the nose. Liqueur-like ripeness of cherry and blackberry fruit, with hints of spice and fruitcake. Large-scaled and chewy for this wine; uncompromisingly dry but already boasts extraordinary volume for Saint-Joseph. Should be superb.
