($37; 50% new oak, French and American) Bright ruby-red. Sexy aromas of black fruits, truffle and smoky oak. Suave on entry, then smooth yet firm in the middle, with varietally expressive flavors of dark fruits, meat, licorice and chocolate. Very rich wine with a restrained sweetness. Finishes with broad, fine tannins. Rudi Schultz shares winemaking duties at Thelema with Gyles Webb. (Cape Classics, New York, NY)
