About Chateau Lafite-Rothschild
Chateau Lafite-Rothschild has been sitting at the top of Bordeaux wine lists since the 17th century. Purchased by the Rothschild family in 1868, Lafite has seen it all over the years, from epidemics of phylloxera to German occupation during World War II. Today, Lafite continues to produce some of the finest, and most expensive, wines in the world.
2003 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild Carruades de Lafite Pauillac (half bottle) (Pre-Arrival)
Producer: Chateau Lafite-Rothschild
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Bordeaux Blend
Origin: France
Region: Bordeaux
Appellation: Pauillac
88 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2006
($44-$55) Red-ruby. Expressive aromas of currant, leather, game and tobacco, with a whiff of band-aid. Sweet and smooth on entry, then a bit green and dry-edged in the middle palate, with notes of tobacco, leather and meat. Seems dryer in bottle, and far less primary, than the sample I tasted in the spring of 2004.
