This Chateau has had a less than stellar reputation over the years but they have really come back with the past couple of vintages. A great, balanced nose of chocolate and red fruit. The palate is balanced and complex and features the classic, bold St. Estephe terrior. Ready to drink now, but will improve over the next 4-5 years at least. Look for the profile of this chateau to rise soon. 90 points.

I had the 2004. Don’t drink this yet. It’s a little too tight right now, pretty tannic but nice and acidic. In a few years it’ll kick-ass. In about 2012 or after, keep it simple. Throw a New York, filet mignon, ribeye or T-bone on the grill, bake or fry some potatoes, sauté some spinach, maybe Italian style in olive oil with garlic, pine nuts and raisins, and you won’t know what hit you, what Bordeaux is all about mes ames.
