More About This Wine
About Chateau Clerc Milon
In 1970, the Rothschild family purchased Chateau Clerc Milon and gave it new life (the Fifth Growth estate had been suffering for years because of legal battles concerning ownership). Stainless steel vats were installed in the winery, new oak was introduced into the barrels and, as you might imagine, quality quickly improved.

($32-$42) Dark red. Cool, slightly medicinal nose hints at licorice, dark chocolate and currant leaf. Richer and more velvety than the Armailhac but less expressive and evolving slowly. This has very good acidity but also a lovely subtle sweetness for the year and surprisingly suave, broad tannins.
