About Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste
Despite being classified in 1855 as a Fifth growth, Grand Puy Lacoste consistently outperforms its rank, due largely to the Cabernet which provides a solid structure to the wine. Francois Xavier Borie, who inherited the estate from his father, currently oversees the production of 12,000 cases annually.

($35-$45) Medium-deep red. Ripe aromas of plum, leather, chocolate and mellow nutty oak; can't match the 2005 or 2006 for lift. Then supple, sweet and accessible, with ripe but cooler flavors framed by harmonious acidity. Not a particularly powerful or structured wine but the tannins are suave and the finish offers good smoky persistence. This has turned out nicely.
