($70; a blend of 52% cabernet sauvignon, 26% merlot, 21% cabernet franc and 1% malbec) Dark red. Aromas of black raspberry, bitter cherry, mocha, mint and nutty oak. Juicy, sappy and rather suave, with good spicy lift to the currant and cherry fruit flavors. This has a silky pliancy of texture that the winery's 2005 cabernet can't yet match. Finishes with sweet, dusty tannins and very good length.

About Napa Valley

Napa Valley is the most famous wine-growing area in the U.S. It begins at the base of Mount St. Helena in the north and tapers off some 30 miles to the south into the floodplain where the Napa River enters San Francisco Bay. From Mount St. Helena to the city of Napa, the valley is defined by two north-south ridgelines of the Coast Range Mountains.
