($30) Musky aromas of smoked meat, hazelnut and charred oak. Dense, firm and a bit youthfully clenched, but also possesses fat and verve. The lively peach, apple and mint flavors carry nicely on the finish, where the wine's wood element confers grip. A step up from the Cold Creek bottling in flavor interest and length. An impressive set of chardonnays, made by new winemaker Bob Bertheau, who began here with vintage 2003.
