Glass-staining violet. A huge and strikingly pungent bouquet of blackcurrant, kirsch, candied licorice, chocolate, vanilla bean, flowers and incense. Deep and sweet, with impressively concentrated cherry and dark berry flavors bordering on liqueur-like but firmed by youthful tannins and brightened by sneaky minerality. Black cherry preserve, candied violet and mocha qualities build on the expansive, long finish, utterly saturating the palate. Surprisingly precise for a wine with such concentration and built to last.
