Balgownie Estate Shiraz Bendigo

Now back in private hands following its sale by Mildara Blass in 1999, this Australian estate is once again a solid source for restrained, concentrated Cabernet in an Old World style. Established in 1968, the focus has been on Cabernet and Shiraz since the first vintage in 1972. The region of Bendigo sits in the heart of cool-climate central Victoria, and when Balgownie Estate was planted, it was the first new vineyard established in the area in more than 80 years. Indeed, Balgownie played a key role in the re-invigoration of the wine industry in Victoria.
