($205) Deep, inky violet. Explosive, exotic aromas of cassis, blackberry, chocolate, toasty oak spices, cured tobacco and hot stones. Lush, supple and broad, with dense dark berry and chocolate flavors accented by licorice, iron, dried violet and baking spices. For all its sweetness and exotic fruit character, this Rioja shows poise, precision and a restrained intensity. Finishes silky and long, with suave tannins and lingering notes of dark berry liqueur. (Kobrand, New York, NY)
