Expert Reviews
Oaky, tarry, dried cherry, concentrated and never as fruity as it is extracted and rich, the aromas of this full-bodied, supple and lush-textured wine are very much paralleled in flavors that are as rich as promised and as much in the ripe-dry camp as in the nose. This is a wine of great ambition, and if its stuffing is less impressive than its framing, it is still so deep as to offer plenty to like by our lights.
Full ruby-red. Cassis, espresso, lead pencil and cedary, spicy oak on the nose. Fat, dense and fleshy, with enticingly ripe flavors of black raspberry and chocolate. Finishes with very good length; chewy, sweet tannins suffuse the palate. Quite satisfying for this bottling.
