Chateau Lafon-Rochet has always been good. However, since being purchased in 1960 by the Tesseron family (the owners of Pontet-Canet in Pauillac), the wine from this Fourth Growth Bordeaux chateau has been excellent.

87-89 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - May/June 1998

(a relatively severe 55% selection; the '97 blend contains 47% merlot, all of which went through its malolactic in barriques Ripe chocolate, dark berry, leather and spice aromas. Silky, soft and fruity, with more breadth than real depth of flavor. Wears its 50% new oak gracefully. Finishes with sweet, ripe tannins.
