About Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey
Values are tough to find in Sauternes, but this is certainly one of them, especially in the good vintages. The south facing slopes here provide the vines with ample sunlight and excellent drainage, producing a wonderfully rich, honeyed, tropical-fruity Sauternes with lovely balance and precision of flavor.

($60-$71) Pale gold. Peach, apricot, honey and spices are currently muted by SO2 on the nose. Then rather powerful in the mouth but closed, with densely packed peach and apricot flavors framed by strong acidity. A bit youthfully sullen today but finishes long and penetrating, with a hint of heat and a slightly sugary impression. (I will eschew an early rating of the 2007, as my sample was dominated by resiny, earthy low tones and had a rather deep color.)
