($97; for 375 ml.) Bright amber with a copper rim. Deeply pitched aromas of smoked meat, toffee, sultana raisin, apricot pit and herbs. Smooth, fleshy and extremely sweet, but with surprising acidity to buffer the unctuous dried fruit and candied nut character. Completely stains the palate and lingers with admirable intensity and spicy persistence. I'd be tempted to serve this with blue cheese or a nut tart but suspect it would be best by itself.
