($45) Deep ruby. Powerfully scented nose offers raspberry, cherry, bitter chocolate, anise, suave baking spices and vanilla. Deep, highly intense red and dark berry flavors are complicated by candied licorice and cured meat. Finishes lively and precise, with good acid lift and youthful but integrated tannins. Seems even livelier than the outstanding 2004. (Classical Wines from Spain, Seattle, WA)
