($60) Inky violet. A powerful bouquet of mineral-accented dark berries, candied cherry and licorice pastille is complicated by pungent tobacco and underbrush notes. Bright and snappy, with sharply etched red and dark fruit flavors, taut minerality and fine-grained tannins. Very Old World in style (the alcohol is a low 12.5%), showing an entrancing interplay of fruit, earth and herb tones. The finish has outstanding snap and length.
