2005 Bouchard Pere et Fils Chambertin Clos de Beze

The largest owner of premier and grand cru vineyards in the Côte d'Or, Bouchard Père et Fils would be a major player in Burgundy even without its négociant operations. Add them together, and you get eighty crus produced each vintage. This heft in the market would barely be worth remarking, if it weren't for the consistenly excellent wines produced by the domaine. The broad range of red wines all display superb freshness and purity of fruit as well as considerable aging potential.  Bouchard takes whites seriously too: these come from some of the greatest sites in Burgundy and are intensely flavored and vibrant, never heavy or over the top.
